I am an artist, creative person based between the Midlands and Wexford.
I work primarily with painting and collage. I have also surrounded my life with the arts by working in it and its bloody brilliant.
Right so heres the serious bit, are you ready? Be kind, I wrote this up some time ago and haven’t really figured out what I am about now, but majority of the work you see on my website stems from this little nugget:
(checks footing, takes a deep breath, clears throat, sip of water, okay, right, Im ready)
My practice currently unpacks gender and performance and how these two are interlinked. This interest has been developed through the depiction of dancers, drawing on my own previous dance training.
I am interested in society's progress in the discussion of gender, particularly in the discourse surrounding gender as performative, multifaceted and subjective. My work presents gender fluid characters, bugs, birds, plants and insects performing outside of the realms of society, with an air of humour.
My work introduces the idea of the odd, the uncanny and the familiar.
This assembles an idea of how the internet and social media (agggghhh) are affecting people and what this BOMBARDMENT feels like on a subconscious level.
Bows, exits stage left.
